A Midsummer Night’s Update

T
here’s been a lot going on in the world, and my energies have been split between my usual creative endeavours and the defense of our democracy. With the current national mood it feels strange to be talking about what I’ve accomplished so far this year, but here we are. This is no time to abandon art, is it?

In that spirit, I have had three stories published so far this year.
My 500-word flash piece about a particularly threatening haunting, Above, and Beyond, appeared in Weird Fiction Quarterly: Ghosts in April,.
A short story recounting the later years of Jonathan Harker, Till He Has Suffered from The Night, appeared in Dracula Beyond Stoker Issue 6: Jonathan Harker in May.
And my much-rejected post-apocalyptic tale, Birdsong, finally found a good home in the Calendar of Fools’ anthology Intergalactic Rejects in June.
I also did an interview with the inimitable Daniel Braum for his Night Time Logic column at Cemetery Dance, where I discussed the themes and inspirations for my most recent collection, Seven Stars: Collected Stories.

There will be several new story publications to announce in the coming months. In the meantime, I am working on a short-story-turned-novella and contemplating what might belong in my third collection.
Keep fighting the good fight, and, as ever, updates to follow!
