Jodie Whittaker To Be First Female Doctor Who

The BBC has announced that Jodie Whittaker will be the 13th Doctor Who, and the first female incarnation of the iconic character.

“I’m beyond excited to begin this epic journey…It’s more than an honor to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can’t wait,” Whittaker said after her casting was revealed.

Peter Capaldi, the current Doctor, says of his successor, “She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She’s going to be a fantastic Doctor.”

Doctor Who first aired in 1963.

Fifty-four years later, the Time Lords, they are a changin’.
