Meltdown and Spectre Fixes Coming on All Fronts

ICYMI, a couple of little vulnerability problems made news recently. The Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities create severe flaws in Intel and ARM chips and allow processors to leak information, leaving them wide open to exploitation.

In response, major companies such as Intel, AMD, ARM, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Amazon have all issued statements describing their specific proposed fixes to the vulnerabilities. Solutions include microcode updates, disabling the sharing of kernel memory with user programs, updating operating systems and hardware, disabling certain JavaScript access in browsers, and updating cloud platforms.

The various fixes are messy, and a little disorganized at the moment–but they’re on it.
