Nintendo Discontinues NES Classic
Despite the NES Classic’s huge popularity (and equally huge supply issues) since its November 2016 launch, Nintendo is discontinuing the console for North America. According to a Nintendo representative, “NES Classic Edition wasn’t intended to be an ongoing, long-term product. However, due to high demand, we did add extra shipments to our original plans.” So, while North American vendors will still receive shipments of the NES Classic through April, Nintendo offers only its apologies if you can’t find one.
Nintendo did not confirm whether or not the NES Classic would still be made for sale in other countries. Time (and supply issues) will tell.
