Overwatch Revising Its Revised Tiebreaking System
Overwatch just changed the rules for breaking ties in competitive Assault games. But based on “a tremendous amount of feedback,” Blizzard has decided to revise the updated system again.
The most recent Overwatch patch created a tiebreaking system “based on which team captured the largest portion.” It also inadvertently created a situation where a team with only 1% capture progress could win a match.
In an upcoming patch, Blizzard will tweak that situation to require teams have at least 33% capture to break a tie. While Blizzard admits that the upcoming change will produce more ties, it believes “the additional clarity of the victory moment and ability for the defense to react to the offense are worth it.”
